Privacy policy

When you browse

You do not need an account to search and read guides. To learn which pages help, GitHot records:

• The pages you view, the page that referred you, any utm tags, and your browser/device type.
• What you search for and which result you click.
• Clicks on install guides and TikTok videos.
• A random id in the githot_vid cookie to count visitors, not linked to your name or email.

When you have an account

If you sign up (by email or with Google), GitHot stores your email, display name, a hashed password (never the password itself), your posts, comments, votes, xu balance and the results of tools you ran. Google sign-in only shares your email and name.

You can download your data or delete your account at any time from the Account page.

When you buy a coffee

GitHot stores the name, message, link and logo you enter, to show them on the thank-you board. If you donate anonymously, none of that is stored. The payment happens in the Momo app; GitHot never sees your payment details.

Cookies GitHot uses

Apart from the Google advertising cookies below, GitHot only uses cookies the site needs to work:

• githot_vid: anonymous visitor count.
• githot_user: keeps you signed in.
• githot_locale: remembers your language.

Google ads

GitHot shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to GitHot or other websites.

You can turn off personalised Google ads in Google’s Ads Settings, or opt out of other ad vendors’ cookies at aboutads.info. You may still see ads, but they will not be based on your browsing history.

Sharing

GitHot does not sell your data. It is stored on GitHot’s own server and storage, and only passes through the services the site needs: email delivery (password resets), supporter logo storage, Google sign-in and the Google ads above.
